Please be aware that we have a couple of alligators staying along the area of our shoreline. Yesterday one displayed aggression toward a neighbor. A picture and video were taken to show the gator was ready to defend the area. Florida Department of Wildlife approved a trapper to come out. That should be in the next couple of days.
It is against the law to feed or entice alligators, that includes throwing anything in the water to entice fish. It has been noticed that the gators are responding to people on docks or the shoreline by stopping and looking or swimming in that direction.
The Florida Statute for clarification: https://www.flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/2016/0379.412
379.412 Penalties for feeding wildlife and freshwater fish.—(1)(a) The penalties in this section apply to a violation of any rule or order of the commission that prohibits or restricts:
1. Feeding wildlife or freshwater fish with food or garbage;
2. Attracting or enticing wildlife or freshwater fish with food or garbage; or
3. Allowing the placement of food or garbage in a manner that attracts or entices wildlife or freshwater fish.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The DEP has our final survey and all information they have asked for to move forward on the dock issue. I was told it looked like we have submitted everything so we are just waiting for it to go up the ladder for final approval.
In the Zone has been out regularly. Right now the pedestal for pumphouse 2 has been built and awaiting the new pump to be installed. That should be any day now. Once both pumps are up and running they will then complete the largest fixes down to individual home fixes. Many of the issues they are working on are homeowner changes in landscaping that either broke pipes or covered heads. We are working to fix them all but these personal changes (whether past or present homeowner) are making the work harder. I know this has been a VERY long process. We thank you for your patience. I do feel we have a company that will stay with us for the long haul.
As always, any questions please stop me in the street, email, or text.
Thank you for being such wonderful neighbors and making our community a pleasant place to live.
